Dr Josh Ryan-Collins

Professor of Economics and Finance at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose | University College London

Dr Josh Ryan-Collins is Professor in Economics and Finance at UCL IIPP. He research focuses on the economics of land and housing macroeconomic policy and money and banking. Josh’s work on the interaction between the financial sector and housing markets – featured in his book, Why Can’t you Afford a Home (Polity 2018) – has received international acclaim and his co-authored book ‘Rethinking the Economics of Land and Housing’ (2017, Zed books) was included in the Financial Times’ top 12 economics books of 2017. In 2024, he was commissioned by the UK’s Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to conduct a report on the financialisation of the UK housing market.
