Join Centre for London, in partnership with L&Q, at this year’s Green Party Conference to explore how London can respond to its housing crisis at a critical political moment.

As poverty continues to rise and housing starts hit a decade low – London is delivering far fewer homes than it urgently needs.

Recent local election gains by the Green Party signal a shift in London’s political landscape and reflect growing public appetite for bold and practical solutions. With a strong focus on expanding social housing, strengthening renters’ rights, and reshaping the private rental market, the Greens have set out a distinctive vision for change.

The question now is how they can build on this momentum – translating policy ambition into real delivery, improving outcomes for renters, and creating a more affordable and accessible housing system.

Delivering change in London will not happen in isolation. The Greens will need to navigate working with other parties, local authorities, and national government – while building effective partnerships with housing associations and developers to accelerate delivery at scale.

The roundtable event will bring together policymakers and industry leaders to explore:

• What the Green Party’s local election success means for housing policy in London
• The role of renters’ rights and affordability measures in easing pressures on households
• How partnerships with local authorities, housing associations and developers can help unlock supply and delivery

Together, we will discuss how to harness political momentum to drive real progress – building a more affordable, fair and sustainable housing system for Londoners.
