Britain’s housing system is failing too many people – it’s holding back growth, placing increasing pressure on public services and making it harder for people to access secure, affordable homes. London sits at the sharpest edge of this challenge, but the impacts are being felt across the country. 

As the government continues to look at housing as a driver of growth, delivering more homes in the capital remains critical. However, ambitious targets will only be met if London can overcome persistent barriers around funding, viability and skills. 

Drawing on Centre for London’s latest flagship report, Delivering the Homes London Needs, this panel will explore: 

• What policy, skills and financial barriers are holding back housing delivery in London? 
• What reforms are needed to accelerate housebuilding and support economic growth? 
• What role could property tax reform play in creating a fairer and more effective housing system?
