We are delighted to invite you to a discussion and reception to mark the publication of Charles Leadbeater’s The London Recipe: How Systems and Empathy make the City. This essay draws on a series of focus groups we have commissioned and explores how Londoners experience their city and the ways it could be made to work better for them.
As Charles writes:
“The combination of two ingredients lies at the heart of London’s success: systems and empathy. Without systems, cities collapse. But it’s empathy and civility that makes them human. If London is admired around the world – if people want to live and visit the capital – it’s because it’s uniquely good, among large cities, at combining systems and empathy. But London’s future is far from secure. If it sometimes feels as if the city is on the verge of a new golden age, it’s also showing growing signs of falling victim of it’s own success…”
The discussion will start promptly at 6.30pm followed by a drinks reception.
