Responding to the latest inflation statistics, Claire Harding, Research Director, Centre for London said:
“Today’s inflation figures are in double-digits for the first time in 40 years. But they’re not just numbers. They will have huge real-world consequences for people across London.
More and more Londoners are going to have to cut back on essentials to keep their heads above water, making fewer journeys on public transport and buying less because of rising bills. This is more bad news for TfL, London’s businesses and low-income households. The cost of living is already higher in London than the rest of the country. Facing double-digit inflation, the many challenges that Londoners face cannot be ignored.”
