In May 2021, Kaya was appointed Leader of Islington Council and her first priority was to tackle the pandemic’s effect on the borough. Islington Council successfully vaccinated 150,000+ residents against COVID; provided laptops to assist with remote learning and reduced council tax for the least fortunate residents.
