Sustainable and Active Travel on Kensington High Street

This report looks at sustainable transport in Kensington and Chelsea - including the balance between different modes of transport in and around high streets, and specifically at active travel and modes of travel along Kensington High Street.

It analyses the needs of four main groups using high streets in the borough:

  • residents
  • workers employed in the borough
  • occasional visitors
  • and people travelling through the borough without stopping,

To investigate those needs, the report sets out a range of scenarios for the future of the borough and examines trends in the ownership and usage of various modes of private and public transport.

Examples of high street transformations from across the world and detailed mapping of the borough and road layouts illustrate the options for change.

The report culminates in three practical options for improving sustainable and active travel on Kensington High Street.
