Sarah Clay

Chief Executive Officer | Voices of Hope

Sarah is the founder and CEO of the registered charity Voices of Hope. She has an MA in Music and Education from Cambridge University and is an Associate of the Royal College of Music. Her innate passion and compassion produce a compelling desire to see people thriving within community and filled with hope. She loves to see people believing in themselves, growing in confidence and taking steps towards fulfilling their potential. The projects undertaken by VoH under Sarah’s leadership express these characteristics powerfully along with her desire to see long term transformation in communities.

Sarah founded Voices of Hope in 2019 with several community choirs, bringing together those who were particularly marginalised or isolated around a love and joy of singing. She was soon acknowledged for her work locally and was awarded the Mayor of Kingston’s Community Award in 2020. Under Sarah’s leadership, VoH has grown quickly with a far reaching impact in the local borough and in people’s lives.

At the start of Covid, all community projects run by VoH had to close. Sarah’s strategic thinking, competence and innovation, led her to pivot the whole charity to distribute over 30,000 meals and food parcels to address the compound needs in the Kingston community. She has continued to pioneer and develop the BRITE Box Project and The Good Food Co-op; two food projects with a long term sustainable impact in the area of food insecurity. More recently, with her experience in music and education, she wrote the Active Breathing Course; one of the few courses in the UK helping people recover from long-Covid and other long term respiratory conditions. Having received funding, it has now run over 15 courses taking referrals from PCNs across South-West London.

Sarah is highly skilled in working collaboratively within communities; partnering with other charities, local authorities, businesses and statutory organisations to implement projects that bring community uplift and sustainable impact. She leads a highly competent, innovative and passionate staff, with an excellent trustees board and a large volunteer base.
