Paul Scully MP

Minister for London and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State | Department for Science, Innovation and Technology

Paul Scully was first elected Member for Sutton and Cheam at the 2015 general election. He is Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology since 2023 and Minister for London since 2020.

Having lived in Sutton for 29 years, he ran small businesses before being elected. After being elected, in September 2017, he was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Brunei, Thailand and Burma. In the same month he was re-elected as a member of the Petitions Committee and International Development Committee including appointment to Chair of the sub-committee on the work of Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI).

In February 2020 he was appointed as the Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

He has been a member of several All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPG) including APPG for Burma, APPG on Tamils, Bangladesh, Ahmaddiyas and London as well as the APPG for the British Curry Catering Industry.

Before entering Government, he was also previously the Conservative Party’s Vice Chairman for London and served as the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative party under the leadership of Boris Johnson.
